The Gateway Hammerheads is pleased to bring Richie Kohler to St. Louis...

Meet
Richie Kohler
“Shadow Divers”
In Person
November 7th and 8th, 2008

Richie Kohler was the subject of the best-selling book Shadow Divers, and host of the popular History Channel television show Deep Sea Detectives. In addition, Richie was expedition leader on three additional History Channel documentaries on the Titanic and her sister ship Britannic, locating new, never before seen wreckage of Titantic. Continuing in that tradition, Richie was the U.S. Leader of a British/American team to locate and identify WWI and WWII German U-boats in the German Cannel, identified the WWII destroyer USS Murphy, assisted in identifying the U-215 off Nova Scotia, and identifying the SS Peconic off the coast of Georgia.

With over 30 years of shipwreck exploration, Richie Kohler has a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge to share.  Do not miss your opportunity to meet and attend his presentations on November 7-8, 2008.

The Gateway Hammerheads is proud to have Richie as their special guest for the 2008 Annual Banquet Nov. 8, 2008. Because he has so many interesting presentations, we have asked Richie to present two separate and different programs. By purchasing your ticket for the November 8th banquet/presentation, you will receive a free ticket to an additional program on Friday, November 7th:

Shadow Divers Presentation

In 1991, divers John Chatterton and Richie Kohler came across the buried remains of a German submarine just off the coast of New Jersey lying at the perilous depth of 230 feet. Unable to identify the ship and mystified as to its origins, the two men became obsessed with learning where the U-boat came from and what brought it to the bottom of the sea. Hear Richie's direct account of how they ultimately solved one of the last mysteries of World War II.

Titanic and Britannic Presentation

This presentation will discuss the demise of the two tragic sisters, Titanic and Britannic.  The Titanic sunk in 1912 on its maiden voyage…but were there engineering failures in addition to the iceberg that sent her to her grave?  John Chatterton and Richie Kohler searched the Titanic’s graveyard to find new evidence. The Britannic was supposed to be the new and improved Titanic but she sunk in 1914. John and Richie dive to 400’ to discover why she went down in just 55 minutes from a single explosion.
