 PADI Seal Team

The PADI Seal Team program is an exciting underwater activity-filled introduction to the world of diving. The PADI Seal Team program gives children a chance to swim around underwater and experience adventure, discovery and thrills. It also provides parents or guardians with a structured program that lets their children develop skills, learn about the aquatic realm, and have a lot of good, clean fun.

To become an official members of the PADI Seal Team, kids must complete the first five of 15 AquaMissions. These activities develop fundamental scuba skills and knowledge, while preparing kids for further adventure.

Children learn about diving by watching the PADI Seal Team video, through the PADI Seal Team AquaMission Activity Book, and during predive briefings with their PADI Instructor. Each AquaMission consists of a briefing, a skill session, and a game or activity. Completing the pool dive and answering challenge questions in their PADI Seal Team AquaMission Logbooks earns young divers an AquaMission decal.

Finishing AquaMissions 1-5, which is equivalent to completing the skills in Confined Water Dive One from the Open Water Diver Course, means youngsters are PADI Seal Team members. Receiving a PADI Seal Team member card and wall certificate recognizes their accomplishments and allows them to work toward PADI Master Seal Team recognition.

As part of their PADI Seal Team membership, PADI Seals have access to a special Website designed for young divers at www.padisealteam.com. There, young divers can learn more about the PADI Seal Team through character bios and they can read about the PADI Seal Team and Specialty AquaMissions. Kids can check out links to padi.com and projectaware.org.

Prerequisites:
• Children must be 8 years old before the first day of class and comfortable in the water
• Parents must complete and sign a PADI Seal Team Statement and Assumption of Risk and Liability Release Agreement prior to class.

Materials
• PADI Seal Team Crew Pak (included in cost of class)

Discover Scuba participants will be briefed by a Y-kiki Divers staff member, don scuba gear and, after mastering a few basic concepts and scuba skills, will be given the opportunity to explore the underwater world in the safe environment of the swimming pool.

Participants discover excitement and adventure - freedom and serenity. Nothing compares to the "weightless" exhilaration of breathing underwater. Only a diver knows the feeling!

Prerequisites:

Challenger Learning Center's Summer Space Adventures

Y-kikiDivers works with the Challenger Learning Center assisting with two summer astronaut training camps. Kids don SCUBA to simulate the affects and challenges of working in space. The two programs include:

Advanced Astronaut Training Camp
Age: Students entering 5th-8th grades (must be at least 10 years old by first day of camp)
In this unique and engaging camp, participants will experience what it would be like to train as a real NASA astronaut. Activities will include mental and physical challenges as well as design competitions. In addition, advanced astronauts will learn basic SCUBA diving skills that will enable them to participate in a one-day underwater astronaut-training program. SCUBA training and gear is included in this camp.

Underwater Expedition Camp
Age: Ages 12 and up
Make a splash this summer! Join Challenger for a full week of astronaut training in an underwater environment. Our "Astronauts In Training" will learn the basics of scuba and complete underwater missions using SCUBA gear. Participants will also create and explore with a robotic underwater remote control rover developed by MIT.

Check out Challenger Learning Center's website.
